We received yesterday, air freighted from Hong Kong, the advance copy of the book

It is an exciting and slightly intrepid moment when you open the package and see for the first time the result of 10 months solid work and effort. In our last newsletter we said we wanted all recipes and contributions in by the end of August.  However it has been a busy few months in many ways, Gerhard was commissioned to record a celebration dinner for the Royal Auckland Golf Club and has just completed a photographic book about the event.

Our book Volcanic Kitchens, a compilation of photographs of our area, local people, recipes from local identities (both famous and infamous), art and anecdotal is progressing well. Thank you to everyone who has so far submitted their recipes and ideas. We have received a great variation of recipes from an old family Rice Salad recipe to Chicken Vindoloo and a Pakistan Curry – a true representation of what we eat and enjoy in our homes.
